Japanese Koi Fish



We scratch our travel memories in books or in the form of arts such as wall art (graffiti), dance, music, songs, paintings and so on. Likewise, Sonu Nepali is a professional B-boy and Disco Jockey. He is well known as B-boy Aggressive among his friends and fans. He has inked his most precious moment on his right arm.


Bboy Sonu is a pioneer in the Nepal Hip Hop field. Besides his daily personal training, he also trains young talented boys and girls around the country. It is believed that his is the best and the most popular Hip Hop DJ/Beats DJ. B-boy Aggressive is the first pick for any Hip Hop event as a DJ.

He has traveled all over Nepal for events and various programs from social awareness to national events like concerts and Nepal tours. Among national and International visits, Sonu recalls Pharphing visit to be one of the most memorable one. His attention was caught by BLACK KOI FISH. The Black Koi amazed him and created a space in his heart. Right away he wanted to make Black Koi a part of his life. And, that is how he got Black KOI on his arm at Dangol Tattoo House, Bhagawan Bahal, Thamel by Sailendra Dangol.


Sonu said ¨Watching the Koi was an amazing moment. I spent more hours than i had imagined. That day, that moment was a completely different one in my life. I did not know how long I sat there watching the Kois. i just enjoyed the moment that was peaceful, very peaceful. It was the most peaceful vibe I have ever encountered. And, this I will remember for life.¨ The Koi makes him feel peaceful and strong. Every-time he come over any obstacles his Koi makes him feel strong, perseverance, determined and courageous.


He believes that anybody who wishes to get a tattoo must do a lot of research. Moreover, one must feel great that they share a special bond with their tattoo. When asked if he would remove the Black Koi in future; he said, ¨My koi makes me feel great. It symbolizes the most peaceful part of my life. I would not remove it under any circumstance.¨

Now let's talk about the myths and beliefs of the Black Koi. It is one of the most popular Japanese Tattoo. It is a special breed of carp whose origin dates from China. Legend says that Koi Fish would swim upstream in the Yellow River and those who got past the Dragon´s Gate (most difficult passage) would be turned into a dragon as a reward. Black Koi symbolizes determination, courage, strength , perseverance, and the passionate to desire to succeed - Japanese Tradition.
